Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Sonella (“the App”) for Android and iOS is made by InnoxApps (“we”, “us”), Noida, India. This policy explains what information the App handles, why, and what choices you have. If you have a question, write to ava@innoxapps.com.
The short version
- There is no account and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your saved mixes, your favourite mix, timer and bedtime settings stay on your device. They are not uploaded to us.
- We use Google Firebase to count how the App is used and to receive crash reports. It is configured not to collect your device's advertising identifier.
- No ads. We do not sell or share your information for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Payments are handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store. We never see your card or payment details.
Information stored on your device
To work, the App keeps the following on your device only:
- your saved mixes, your favourite mix and the last mix you played;
- the sound files you have downloaded;
- your preferences, such as timer length, bedtime reminder and whether sounds mix with other audio;
- the answers you gave when you first opened the App (what you use it for and what keeps you up), used only to build your starter mix;
- a simple playback log (when playback started and why it stopped) used to detect and fix playback that stops unexpectedly.
This information is not sent to us. Deleting the App deletes it. If your device's own backup is turned on, Android or iOS may include the App's data in that backup, which is handled by Google or Apple under their terms.
Permissions and what they are used for
| Permission | Why the App asks for it |
|---|---|
| Notifications | To show playback controls while sounds are playing, the bedtime reminder if you turn it on, a few tips in your first two weeks, and on iOS a reminder two days before a free trial ends. |
| Background audio / media playback | To keep playing when the screen is off or you switch apps. |
| Exact alarms (Android, optional) | Only if you turn on bedtime auto-start: to start your mix at the time you set. |
| Internet | To download the sound list and sound files (see “Sound downloads”). |
| Battery optimisation settings (Android) | We may guide you to these settings if the system stops playback overnight. The App only opens the settings screen; you decide. |
Every permission is optional unless the feature that needs it is in use, and you can withdraw any of them at any time in your device's settings.
Sound downloads
Sonella downloads its list of sounds and the sound files from our content server at
www.stayfocused.me, which InnoxApps operates. Like any web server, it receives your
device's IP address and basic request details (such as the time, the file requested and the device
type and system version your phone reports). We use
these server logs only to deliver the files and to keep the service secure and working, and we do
not combine them with anything else. No account, name or identifier of yours is sent with these
requests. Sounds you have downloaded stay on your device and play without a connection.
Usage analytics and crash reports
We use two Google services, provided by Google LLC:
- Firebase Analytics records which screens and features are used (for example “sound added to a mix” or “paywall shown”) and purchase events (which plan was chosen and whether the purchase went through), together with your device model, operating-system version, app version, language, approximate location (such as your country or city, which Google derives from your IP address), and a random identifier that Firebase creates for this installation of the App. It does not receive your advertising identifier, your name, or the names you give your mixes.
- Firebase Crashlytics receives a report when the App crashes: the technical details of the crash, the device model and operating-system version, the analytics events from just before the crash, and a random installation identifier. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.
We use this only to understand which features help, to find and fix problems, and to measure whether upgrades to Pro are working. Google processes this data under the Firebase privacy and security terms and the Google Privacy Policy. Event-level analytics data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in our Google Analytics property (no longer than 14 months); aggregated reports may be kept longer. Reinstalling the App creates a new random identifier.
Purchases
Subscriptions, free trials and one-time purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. They share with the App only what it needs to unlock Pro — which product you bought and whether it is active — and the App checks this on your device. Your payment details stay with Google or Apple.
What we do not do
- We do not use the microphone, and we do not access your contacts, your device's location services (GPS), photos or files.
- We do not show ads and do not use advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security and international processing
All network requests the App makes use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Google's services and our content server may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States; where the law requires it, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK, India or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to your data-protection authority. Because the App has no accounts, the data we receive is not linked to your name or email, so we may not be able to identify it as yours; the data stored on your device is under your control and is removed when you delete the App. To exercise a right or ask a question, write to ava@innoxapps.com. If you write to us, we use your email only to reply and keep the conversation only as long as needed to help you.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will also tell you in the App.
